Mark Whiting is a Director at Lyon Stahl Investment Real Estate, focused on multifamily transactions and advisory in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Coming from the principal side, Mark brings a unique and broad perspective for advising clients on their real estate holdings and adding value throughout the life cycle of their investments. Mark has over 15 years of experience working in various capacities of the real estate business across the US.
Prior to Lyon Stahl, Mark was a Director at Preserve Partners, a multifamily private equity investment group based in Salt Lake City, UT, with over 2,500 units in the mountain west and midwest regions of the US. In that role he worked on all facets of the business including acquisitions, asset management, construction management and operations. Previously, Mark was a Vice President at GTIS partners in New York, Miami and San Francisco, serving roles in asset management (for various residential, office, retail and hospitality investments) and development, managing all phases of a 50-Story, 400-unit, ground-up luxury residential condominium development in Miami, FL from start to finish. Prior to GTIS, Mark was an Analyst at Morgan Stanley in the Commercial Real Estate Lending Group in New York, NY, where he was responsible for the underwriting of over $2.4Bn of commercial real estate loans across all markets in the US for CMBS and syndication exits. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Mark was a generalist Analyst at Eastdil Secured in Los Angeles, CA, supporting equity, debt and joint venture transactions. Before Eastdil, Mark was a Project Engineer for McCarthy Building Company on a full replacement hospital project in Santa Barbara, CA.
Mark graduated cum laude from the University of Southern California with a B.S. in Business Administration and a double emphasis in Real Estate Development and Finance from the Marshall School of Business, including a semester abroad at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in Hong Kong, China.
Mark currently resides in Long Beach, CA with his wife and son. Originally from West Virginia, Mark grew up and went to high school in St. Louis, MO. He loves the outdoors and enjoys being outside, fitness, traveling, music and spending time with family and friends.
